RF Council of the Federation approves fines for violation of safety requirements on the continental shelf of Russia

The Council of the Federation of RF Parliament has approved the Federal Law “On Introduction of Amendments into Administrative Offences Code of RF” (allocating responsibility for violation of safety requirements within safety zones established around artificial islands, installations or structures on the continental shelf of Russia), the Council’s press center says.

The document establishes administrative responsibility for noncompliance of safety requirements within safety zones established around artificial islands, installations or structures on the continental shelf of Russia by ship drivers or other persons navigating ships (including small-size vessels).

The fines for citizens: from RUB 100,000 to RUB 300,000; for officials – from RUB 300,000 to RUB 500,000; for legal entities – from RUB 500,000 to RUB 1 mln. The same violations interfering with sea transport traffic and (or) production activities and (or) blocking of transportation services on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation entail an administrative penalty of RUB 300,000 to RUB 500,000 for citizens, RUB 500,000 to RUB 1 mln for officials and RUB 3 mln to RUB 5 mln for legal entities.

The Federal Law comes into effect upon expiration of 180 days from the date it was published.
