Transport officials agreed on access roads to the future Kerch crossing

Representatives, experts of different agencies at their meeting on the preparation of the transport infrastructure near the future Kerch bridge have come to agreement on the rail and highway access to transport crossing linking the mainland and the Crimea. Officials also agreed upon the number and arrangement of overpasses, the Ministry of Transport said.

Experts also outlined the basic requirements of technical specifications and the junction point to the rail infrastructure now under construction of the access road to the existing maritime terminals. The ministries also addressed solutions to optimize the construction works and building of roads.

The Transport Ministry, agencies in conjunction with the owner of non-public railways JSC "Tamanneftegas" have worked out a plan on access roads to the new freight yard for reception of construction materials and other goods intended for the construction of the Kerch crossing. The agreement will allow responsible agencies to launch in July operation of the railway freight yard, in the area close to the bridge. This will reduce the burden on the regional highways, railways, which is especially important in the holiday season, reduce transportation costs and speed up the start of construction.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Federal Road Agency Roman Starovoit, Deputy Minister for Crimea Andrei Zhukov, Vice-President of Russian Railways Oleg Tony, representatives of FGAs "Taman" and "Rostransmodernizatsiya", as well as representatives of contractors, design bureau and other stakeholders.
