Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) announces that the Dockwise vessel White Marlin was named and christened during a festive ceremony in Guangzhou, China. Following the ceremony, the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel will be mobilized to Singapore for its maiden transport of two drilling rigs for discharge in Abu Dhabi, the company said in its press release.
The vessel's overall length is 216 meters with a beam of 63 meters. With a deadweight of 72,000 metric tons, the White Marlin type I vessel strengthens the leading position Dockwise has in the top end of the heavy marine dry transport market.
Last month, Boskalis also named and christened the trailing suction hopper dredger Freeway in the harbor next to its head office in Papendrecht, the Netherlands. The vessel is currently busy at work on its maiden project in the United Kingdom.
The Freeway is the fourth vessel in a series of 4,500 cubic meter hopper dredgers that have been built by Boskalis in recent years. The vessel is very well suited for operations in shallow water including port maintenance and coastal protection projects.
