Port operator executive says Ust-Luga port may lose some traffic volume to St. Petersbug based Port Bronka
General Director of JSC «Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga" Mikhail Talanenko, said the under construction Port “Bronka” based in Big Port St. Petersburg is not a rival but he would not rule out that his port might lose some traffic volumes, including Ro-Ro cargo, that may funnel to Bronka port.
Talanenko who attended the 8th Annual International Conference "TRILOGY" opened in St. Petersburg March 13, 2015, mentioned among the competitive advantages of the Port of Ust-Luga its well-developed rail assess network. However, he told about a 60% slump in imported cars shipments through Ust-Luga terminals.
Talanenko also said that currently the port is handling export steel products, slabs, ingots, as well as beams and lumber.
