Bunker sales at the port increased 3.3 times to 55,500 t.
Passenger turnover jumped 4.3 times to 262,000 persons.
1,803 calls were registered in the two-month period of 2015 against 875 calles in January-February 2014.
“The growth should be attributed to the increased supplies of cargo to the Crimean Republic. Besides, favorable weather conditions allowed for off-harbour transshipment”, Evgeny Tuzinkevich, Harbour Master of port Kavkaz, said.
Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The depth of 4.5 meters allows for handling river boats and seagoing ships (off the harbour). The port’s facilities are intended for handling bulked cargoes (mineral fertilizers, concentrates of various ores, grain) as well as general, timber, and containerized goods.
