Port of Ventspils (Latvia) expects reduction of coal transshipment by 18% to 4.8 mln t in 2015

Port of Ventspils (Latvia) expects reduction of coal transshipment by 18% to some 4.8 mln t in 2015, Janis Meirans, Marketing Manager at the Free port of Ventspils Authority, told IAA PortNews at SOLIDS Russia Exhibition in Saint-Petersburg. 

According to him, the port handled 5.9 mln t in 2014. At the same time, the port of Riga (Latvia) is seeing the increase of coal transshipment. 

Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2014, the port handled 26.02 mln t of cargo (-9%, year-on-year).
