On 17 June 2015, General Director of Vyborg Shipyard Alexander Solovyev was elected Chairman of the Leningrad regional representation of the all-Russia public organization Russian Engineering Union. Ceremony to join the new post took place at Vyborg Shipyard. Earlier the General Director of Vyborg Shipyard had joined the Committee on shipbuilding industry and marine equipment of the Russian Engineering Union. The Committee is headed by the President of United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC A. L. Rakhmanov, the company said in its press release. Vyborg Shipyard has been a member of the all-Russia public organization Russian Engineering Union since 2014.
Vyborg Shipyard is one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the North-West of Russia. Since its foundation (1948) the shipyard has built over two hundred various vessels with total displacement of more than 1 550 000 t. Since May 2012 Vyborg Shipyard JSC has been a corporate member of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC JSC).
All-Russia public organization Russian Engineering Union was established in 2007. The main target of the Union is building up of development strategy of the industry, as well as participation in formation of active mechanisms of the state policy on support of the national machine-building complex at the level of the leading industrial countries. The Union is dedicated to the promotion of common interests of around three million employees of mechanical engineering industrial sectors in Russian Federation.
