LNG storage facility with FSRU to be built for Gazprom at HHI (S. Korea) under RS supervision by 2017 (photo)
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) will supervise the construction of an LNG storage facility with a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) for Gazprom, Georgy Bedrik, Head of RS Business Development Department, told IAA PortNews at the Seventh International Maritime Defence Show in Saint-Petersburg. The vessel will be built at the shipyard of Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI, South Korea) by 2017.
“The gas carrier with a function of ship-to-shore discharge of re-gasified product will operate in Kaliningrad. The vessel’s LNG capacity is to exceed 170,000 cbm,” Georgy Bedrik said.

The exposition of RS stand represents the Register’s services on classification and technical survey of different vessels, manufacture of materials and products, certification of production processes and management systems of companies involved in implementation of state defence orders and organizations responsible for research, production, supply, maintenance, operation, repair and disposal of military equipment and defence products. Special attention is paid to RS regulations applicable for designing and building of vessels targeted at implementation of strategic tasks in the Arctic based on innovations in global shipbuilding and international requirements related to safe shipping and environment protection.
