Construction of NFT’s logistics centre in Tilbury starts this week
NFT, the UK’s market leader in chilled food distribution, confirms the construction of its unique port-centric logistics centre in Tilbury, London started this week, the company said in its press release.
Located at one of the largest dockside facilities in Europe, the innovative logistics centre is strategically positioned to provide optimum inbound solutions for importers, regardless of the point of entry into the UK’s South East.
NFT celebrated its “spade in the ground” moment at a prestigious industry briefing at the Port. Over 150 key movers and shakers from 75 companies in the importing, retail and manufacturing world attended the event to hear about NFT’s game changing investment.
The theme ‘Discover a New World of Port-Centric Logistics’ informed attendees about the increasing demand for imports and how to leverage this opportunity through reduced food miles, thus extracting additional value throughout the supply chain.
The distribution centre is due to be open for business by late 2015. It will have capacity for 25,000 pallets within 230,000 sq. ft. and be able to handle a throughput in excess of 2.5 million cases per week.
NFT is now well on the way to fulfilling its ambition to become a key logistics provider in the global food industry and in so doing will create further exciting opportunities within the industry.
