Rosmorport's tall ship Mir participates in Sail Amsterdam festival

On 19 August 2015 the Mir sailing training ship of FSUE “Rosmorport” moored in the Port of Amsterdam (the Netherlands) to participate in the largest international ship parade Sail Amsterdam, press center of Rosmorport says.

The event was first held in 1975 marking Amsterdam’s 700th jubilee, and is now held every five years. According to a tradition, Sail Amsterdam starts as hundreds of sailing ships parade along the Ij river. Apart from large vessels, thousands of private yachts and boats of different size also take part in the parade.

The festival lasts four days, as the ships participate in different events and reconstructions of historical naval battles. Besides, Sail Amsterdam includes a range of theatrical, artistic, cultural, music and sports events as well as entertainment for children. Every year more than one and a half million people visit the parade.

The Mir sailing ship stays in Amsterdam for five days. During the stay it is open for visitors and offers guided tours.
