The Kama Scientific Research Institute of Comprehensive Surveys of Deep and Ultra-Deep Wells (KamNIIKIGS, Perm, a subsidiary of multiple-industry geological holding company of Rosgeologia) has finished a field survey in the northeast of the Volga - Urals oil and gas province. According to the press center of Rosgeologia , the study was conducted in the Kirov Region, Perm Krai, and the Republic of Udmurtia. Traversing (both aquatic , and on-land) in the areas of the western Urals slope, where 10 traverses totaled 650 km, resulted in sampling of 500 rock specimens from Lower, Middle and Upper Riphean, as well as Upper and Lower Vendian formations. Lab testing (lithological, petrophysical, geochemical) of Proterozoic and Lower Paleozoic oil and gas complexes was fulfilled with the help of the up-to-date equipment and methodology applied for assessment of physical and chemical properties of rock samples from deep wells and outcrops.
“This is just the first step, and we plan two more,” - Tatyana Alexandrova, Deputy General Director of KamNIIKIGS for Geology says. - “The work will be supposedly completed in quarter three of the next year. Vertical geological and geophysical sections of wells and profiles will be built, Predevonian oil and gas potential D1 + D2 resources in amount not less than 10 MMt will be mapped and quantified in the areas of their potential development”.
The contractual work is being performed within the frames of the government contract signed by the Subsoil Department of the Volga Federal District and FGUP NVNIIGG last October. JSC KamNIIKIGS was awarded a subcontract in this project.
