The Port of Gdansk at TransPoland 2015

The third International Exhibition for Transport and Logistics - TransPoland - was held between 4-6 November this year in Warsaw under the auspices of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development. According to PGA, one of the main partners in this year's edition was the Port of Gdansk, who presented their range of services at an exhibition stand and were the main partner in one of the conferences accompanying the event: 'Logistics Networking - The Effectiveness of Working asa Group and the Safety of Chemical Transport'. Two panels were devoted to the discussion of important issues regarding standards, procedures, security, and risk management in chemical and ADR cargo (hazardous freight) transport.

At the conference, the strategic role of the port was presented by the CEO of PGA SA - Dorota Raben - in a speech entitled "Port of Gdansk - the largest Polish port in the handling of hazardous freight." Hazardous freight represents more than 50% of the total tonnage of cargo handled at the port of Gdansk. This is comprised mainly of liquid fuel, gas, coal, and other chemical products. Currently, the port is implementing an integrated security system, which is important in terms of improving the efficiency of the emergency services and the protection of the port area.

The universal Port of Gdansk infrastructure enables the transshipment of almost any commodity. The Port of Gdansk is fully capable of meeting their obligations as a member of NATO. Examples of such activities include the the loading of arms and military equipment belonging to the 12th Royal Armoured-Mechanised Brigade returning from the Dragon 2015 exercises held in October this year. This operation was made possible thanks to the high load-bearing capacity of the ro-ro ramp located in the Duty Free Zone in Gdansk.

Ensuring the highest standards of safety is a top priority for the PGA SA.

This year's TransPoland fair will be remembered for Important topics, interesting conversations, meetings, overa hundred exhibitors from the transport and logistics industry, and the large number of visitors.
