Severnaya Verf shipyard will launch the construction of its new state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility on December 22, 2015, the shipyard says.
The foundation stone ceremony will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and USC President Aleksei Rakhmanov.
Investment programme of USC provides for construction of a dry dock to build vessels of up to 250 meters in length and up to 73 meters in breadth from 2017 (phase 1). Implementation of the programme’s phase 2 will let building 400-meter long vessels. The Corporation is also creating a so called ‘distributed shipyard’ at the shipbuilding facilities of Russia’s North-West region. The concept implies the cooperation of shipyards in execution of orders, including transportation of super-size units between them.
OJSC "Severnaya Verf" Shipyard (corporate member of United Shipbuilding Corporation) is a leading shipbuilding company in Russia, building more than 75% of the Russian military surface warships. The company was founded on November 14, 1912, as "Putilovskaya Shipyard."
The company is dedicated to construction, repair and retrofitting of surface warships, including destroyers, frigates, corvettes under the state defense contracts for the Russian Navy. The company also executes contracts for foreign Navies under military and technical cooperation. Severnaya Verft also specializes in commercial shipbuilding for the domestic and foreign markets, manufacturing PSVs of various types, icebreakers, tankers and 12,000 dwt dry cargo carriers.
In accordance with existing contracts Severnaya Verf is to build and deliver to the Russian Navy four frigates of Project 22350, four corvettes projects 20380 and 20385, three 23120-series combat logistics ships of ARC4 class and two communications ships of Project 18280.
