A unique propulsion and electric power generation systems have been installed on the completed salvage ship Igor Belousov commissioned recently into the fleet of the Russian Navy. The system was developed and supplied by a branch of Krylov State Research Centre, the state-owned enterprise said.
The propulsion & gensets package will improve the dynamic characteristics and enables accurate positioning and maneuvering, which is crucial while carrying out rescue operations.
Thanks to the systems design different layout schemes during installation of units in separate compartments are possible and allowed shipbuilder to equip the ship with a large number of life-saving appliances.
The Navy is considering an option for additional vessels of the series.
