Managing Director of Navibulgar Services becomes the new Chairman of the Bulgarian Ship Suppliers Association

Mr. Alexander Alexandrov, Managing Director of Navibulgar Services Ltd., was elected as the new Chairman of BSSA after 2 years at the position of Deputy Chairman of the association.

Bulgarian Ship Suppliers Association is the only non-governmental association in Bulgaria that brings together and protects the interests of the local ship supply companies. One of the main aims of BSSA is to assist and support its members, constantly improving the environment for ship supply activity and operations in Bulgarian ports. In addition, the association is actively engaged in the promotion of Bulgaria as a convenient and cost-effective location for supplying vessels.

Mr. Alexandrov announced that the top priorities of the new management will be to work towards the facilitation of procedures and the reduction of refusals to take actions against non-payments, as well as, to focus on strengthening the image of Bulgaria as a preferable supply location for international ship owners and ship management businesses. “As the crisis in the sector continues to deepen on a global scale, we consider that it is essential to improve the mechanisms for protection of the interests of BSSA members”. Other points on the agenda of the association in the forthcoming year will be to join other Bulgarian and international business associations, to participate in international forums on the issues of the maritime industry, and to continue to improve the conditions for ship-supply companies in Bulgaria.

BSSA represents its members’ interests before state authorities and institutions, ship-owners and other organizations on any topics related to ship supply. As of January 2016 BSSA has 13 members.
