Zelenodolsk A. Gorky Shipyard lays down third 22160-series patrol boat "Pavel Derzhavin"

Tatarstan, Russia based Zelenodolsk A. Gorky Shipyard has held a keel-laying ceremony today, February 18, for the third ship in a series of fast response patrol cutters of project 22160 designed by St. Petersburg headquartered Severnoye Design Bureau, the shipbuilding company told IAA PortNews. 

The new generation 22160-series coast guard vessels were designed to patrol Russia's territorial waters in high and enclosed seas, to conduct search, interception / detention of smugglers and pirates. The vessel is able to assist in search and salvage operations, to conduct environmental monitoring, to convoy ships crossing the sea, to guard naval bases and water areas to prevent attacks of hostile forces in wartime time. 

Ship general characteristics: displacement - 1,300 tonnes, endurance - 60 days, max. speed – 30, complement – 80. Main propulsion unit - CODAG 25MW. The ship is equipped with a helipad for a 12-tonne helicopter and features radio, sonar and electronic countermeasures (ECM) capabilities. 

The 22160-design flag ship "Vasily Bykov" was laid down on February 26, 2014. The second ship in the series, the Dmitry Rogachev, was laid down on July 25, 2014. The third ship has been named in hornor of  Pavel Derzhavin, captain I rank, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union.                
Tatarstan based OJSC Zelenodolsk Shipyard named after A. M. Gorky specializes in the construction of warships and passenger high-speed vessels. The enterprise is managed by AK BARS HOLDING.
