Sea Shepherd intercepts fleet of illegal fishing vessels in the Indian Ocean

Sea Shepherd’s Flagship, the Steve Irwin, has intercepted a fleet of six illegal fishing vessels, the Fu Yuan Yu fleet, in the Indian Ocean.
The Sea Shepherd ship, under the command of Captain Siddharth Chakravarty, has now engaged in a pursuit of one of the ships, the Fu Yuan YU 076.
The six Chinese-flagged vessels were located on the Ninety East Ridge in international waters; an area managed by the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMO).
