The 21st International Exhibition for Transport and Logistics Services and Technologies “TransRussia-2016" was opened on April 19, at Crocus Expo, Moscow. On the first day of the exhibition RF Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov visited the booth of the Multipurpose Sea Cargo Complex "Bronka" (MSCC Bronka), new deepwater port under construction on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland in Saint-Petersburg, says Bronka project investor Fenix LLC.
Management of MSCC Bronka told the Minister about the port operation, its equipment, advanced technologies applied in the port and further development prospects.
The exhibition was also visited by Hamburg State Councillor Dr Rolf Bösinger. When speaking to Maxim Sokolov and managers of port Bronka at the booth presenting the deepwater port, Mr Rolf Bösinger emphasized the need for cooperation between Germany and the Russian Federation despite the current economic situation. “Hamburg is the key port for transshipment of overseas cargo bound for the Baltic Sea and the Russian Federation is one of the prime markets for Hamburg. Therefore, Hamburg is focused on enhancement and perspective development of trade relations with Russia under long-term principle”, said Dr Rolf Bösinger.
TransRussia is the largest exhibition for transport, logistic service and technologies in Russia. This year it brings together more than 300 companies from 27 countries that will present their services and new technologies. TransRussia presents a full package of industry-related solutions, ranging from freight forwarding services to IT-solutions and cargo handling equipment, transportation and logistics services, transport technology and hardware. The list of participants includes Russian Railways, Freight One, Fesco, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg, Eurosib, Port Ust-Luga, TransContainer, Liebherr, Klaipeda Sea Port, Lithuanian Railways, Nurminen Logistics etc.
Multipurpose Sea Cargo Complex Bronka will comprise three specialized facilities: a container terminal encompassing 107 hectares, the Ro-Ro terminal of 57 ha and a logistics center of 42 ha. Container terminal will have a 1,220 m-long quay wall (including 5 berths). The length of Ro-Ro terminal's dock line will be 710 meters (3 berths). After completion of Bronka Phase 1 its capacity will reach 1.45 million TEUs and 260,000 units of Ro-Ro cargoes. In future the MSCC Bronka expansion will help increase the facility's container throughput to 1.9 million TEUs. Upon completion of the port's construction and dredging to the design mark of 14.4 meters in 2015 MSCC Bronka will be able to accommodate Post-Panamax containerships and the ferries of Finnstar class. Implementation of the Bronka project is expected to generate 2,300 jobs at its marine terminals alone.
