Saint-Petersburg should become a center of innovative shipbuilding in Russia, organizers of the conference “Application of composite materials in shipbuilding” cite Dmitry Kolodyazhny, Vice-President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) as saying at the Conference.
According to Dmitry Kolodyazhny, introduction of polymeric composite materials is among the key priorities of innovative shipbuilding in Russia. He says Saint-Petersburg should become a center of innovative shipbuilding. Industry related scientific research and design institutions are concentrated in Saint-Petersburg including Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard (USC), the leader in introduction of composite shipbuilding in Russia.
As Aleksei Zaostrovsky, Executive Director of Composite Solutions Group, said at the Conference, a competence center that could be based on the composite cluster of Saint-Petersburg would let integrate the potential of the science, businesses and authorities into a single structure covering all the aspects of composites application – starting from development of new materials to certification and introduction of products in the market, including international market.
