Diesel-electric icebreakers of FSUE Rosmorport Murmansk and the Vladivostok (Project 21900М) have completed their ice trials in the western Arctic, says press center of the Murmansk Region Government.
18 MW icebreakers are intended for independent escorting of large capacity vessels, towing, extinguishing of fires at floating facilities and other structures, providing assistance to vessels in distress, transportation of cargo. The ships designed to break ice up to 1.5 m thick will be deployed in the Baltic, White and other ice-free seas as well as at Arctic routes.
