RS is supervising construction of 116 vessels in Russia

116 vessels are being built in Russia under the supervision of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), IAA PortNews correspondent cites Georgy Bedrik, Head of RS Business Development Department, as saying at the 6th International Forum “Marine Industry of Russia” in Moscow.

According to him, the list consists of 17 industrial ships, 4 trawlers, 4 nuclear-powered icebreakers, 21 tugboats, 4 dredgers, 5 icebreakers, 7 platforms, 15 sea/river class ships, 5 supply ships, 5 rescue ships and 29 vessels of other types.

“Russia tends to build vessels of low deadweight but high level of outfitting,” said Georgy Bedrik.

He also emphasized that the year of 2016 is to see the delivery of almost 90 vessels built to RS class and less than 20 vessels are planned for the delivery in 2017 so far. “We have half a year for this backlog of orders to grow ... but now we live in hope” said RS representative.
