Yenisei River Shipping Company opened cargo navigation on the Lower Tunguska river on May 29, 2016. The Company’s PR department says the first ships to enter the river were the Viktor Astafyev and the Aleksandr Pechenik tankers carrying fuel for Tura settlement.
During the current navigation on the Lower Tunguska the company is going to carry some 29,000 t of different cargo: over 5,000 t of dry cargo and over 24,000 of fuel including 12,000 t of crude oil from Slavyanka (Kuyumbinsky field) to Tura .
The Lower Tunguska is among the rivers hard for navigation. Large capacity ships can sail along this river during the spring flood period: late May – mid June.
Tugboats, dry cargo carriers, tankers and combo barges will be deployed for shipping operations.
Yenisei River Shipping Company was established as a state enterprise in 1931, incorporated in 1994 году. YRSC is the main carrier of cargo along the water routes of the Yenisei Basin. The company’s fleet numbers some 650 vessels with total capacity of about 680,000 t. The company has shipbuilding and ship repair assets and a number of other business units. Major customer and the controlling shareholder of the company is Norilsk Nickel OJSC.
