MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract for the design and delivery of key components and the fabrication of steel structures for the hatch covers on board five 14,000 TEU container vessels under construction at Japan Marine United's (JMU) Kure shipyard. The order was booked into the second quarter 2016 order intake, the company said in its press release.
"MacGregor enjoys a long and successful working relationship with JMU," says Hiroshi Goto Area Sales and Marketing Director, Cargo Handling, MacGregor. "The order builds on two similar previous contracts with the shipyard; one in 2015 for six vessels and the other for four vessels in 2014, taking MacGregor's delivery commitment to 15 ships in the same series."
The 144,285gt vessels will be all for a Japanese owner and they will be deployed for the service between Far East and Europe.
