Second stage of bridge over Kama river is opened officially (photo)

RF Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the official opening of the second stage of the bridge over the Kama river on August 30, 2016, say press center of RF Transport Ministry.

Total length of the bridge over the Kama at Sorochyee Gory settlement including the bridges over the Arkharovka and Kurlyanka rivers, the ramp and the transport junction, is 14 km. Construction of the first stage started in spring 1992. 

“This facility of federal significance is a part of the international corridor Europe – Western China. It is very important to ensure that it is a modern corridor, a first class route”, said Maxim Sokolov. 

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, it a strategic facility for both the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation. 

The route is supposed to improve transport links between Europe and Asia and to facilitate imports from China.
