Construction of cargo berth No51 under Vostochny Port's Phase 3 project has been completed today, August 31, 2016, IAA PortNews journalist reports from the ceremony held by JSC Vostochny Port, the largest coal handling company in the Primorsky Territory. Berth No51 is a 300-meter long facility with a depth of over 16 m. It can accommodate vessels of up to 180,000 t in deadweight. More than 4,000 pipe piles manufactured in Russia under import substitution programme were driven with the application of a unique technology (from the shore). In 2017, the berth will be equipped with two ship loading conveyors capable of loading 3,000 t of coal per hour.
The ceremony was attended by Nadezhda Zhikhareva, Deputy Head of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot); Andrei Tarasenko, Director General of FSUE Rosmorport; Nina Osipova, Acting Director of the Far East Basin Branch; Anatoly Lazarev, Managing Director of JSC Vostochny Port; Irina Olkhovskaya, Deputy General Director of Managing Port Company LLC (the management holding comprising Russia's largest coal ports JSC Vostochny Port and JSC Rosterminalugol), representatives of Primorye and Nakhodka authorities.
JSC Vostochny Port is the major stevedoring company of Russia specializing in handling of export coal. In 2015 the Company handled 22.8 mln t of cargo.
JSC Vostochny Port is a part of Russia’s largest coal handling holding controlled by Managing Port Company LLC. All sea terminals of Managing Port Company LLC handled over 40 mln t of coal in 2015, which is one third of Russia’s total coal exports.
Construction of Vostochny Port's Phase 3 began in 2012. The project is targeted at doubling of the company’s throughput. Commissioning is scheduled for 2017 with the facility to become fully operational from 2019. JSC Vostochny Port is to handle 39 mln t of coal in 2019 with the volumes confirmed by the shippers.
Due to implementation of the Phase 3 project the terminal has an expanded territory, a water area with a depth at the berth of over 16 meters, berth facilities. Current works include installation of specialized equipment and construction of railway infrastructure.
Equipment of Vostochny Port’s Phase 3: two tandem wagon dumpers of rotary type; a defrosting facility for up to 80 open-top wagons; conveyor equipment system; four storage facilities foe about 800,000 t of cargo; two stackers; four reclaimers; magnetic separation system; deepwater berth able to handle vessels of up to 180,000 t in deadweight; two ship loading conveyors; dust suppression system.
The hi-tech terminal is being built without state financing. Total investments under the project exceed RUB 27 bln including RUB 4.7 bln for railway infrastructure. One of the two railway-yards will be then handed over to Russian Railways OJSC.
JSC Vostochny Port is one of the key taxpayers in the Far East region (tax revenues in 2015 exceeded RUB 2 bln). It is on the list of socially responsible companies of the Primorsky Territory. The company numbers 1,700 employees. When Phase 3 of the Coal Terminal is put into operation, the number of personnel will grow to 2,200.
