In January-August 2016, Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 24.58 mln t of cargo (+4.7%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.
Transshipment of gain fell by 30.4% to 707,180 t, general cargo and timber up 27.4% to 9.53 mln t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – up 20.6% to 2.62 mln t, coal – up 14.3% to 3.37 mln t, liquid fuel – down 15.3% to 8.33 mln t.
The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal, ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2015, the port handled 35.91 mln t of cargo.
