DFDS adds extra ship to freight service on Rotterdam - Immingham (UK)
DFDS operates two very busy freight-shipping routes from Rotterdam to the UK. And in spite of Brexit, demand for transport keeps increasing. Therefore, DFDS has decided to expand the fleet by adding a fourth vessel to the route between Rotterdam and Immingham.
The extra vessel will be MV Friedrich Russ, which can carry 110 trailers and accommodate 12 drivers.
“With four vessels, we will be able to offer two daily departures from Mondays to Saturdays and a fixed departure on Sundays, and this greater frequency and capacity will be a major improvement for the exporting and forwarding industries in the Netherlands, Germany and other countries,” says Mikael Mortensen, Route Director Netherlands.
“Furthermore, our customers will be able to benefit from slightly modified departure times. In the afternoons we will depart from Rotterdam at 15.00 hrs instead of 14.00 hrs, and in the evenings at 20.45 hrs instead of 20.00 hrs. This means that our customers will be able to arrive at the terminal later and therefore also be able to utilise their trailers more efficiently,” says Mikael Mortensen.
The route’s four vessels, ANGLIA SEAWAYS, CORONA SEAWAYS, FIONIA SEAWAYS and Friedrich Russ, will make 12 round trips per week in total.
The change will take place from 3 October.
In addition to the Rotterdam – Immingham route, DFDS offers 16 weekly departures on our route to Felixstowe.
