Coal exports via Rosterminalugol terminal hit 17 mln t milestone in 2016 (photo)

As of 13 December 2016, throughput of Rosterminalugol OJSC in 2016 reached 17 million tonnes, the Company’s press release says.

The milestone tonne was loaded onto dry bulk carrier Koutalianos. The Panamax class ship will carry  77,000 t of coal.

The Koutalianos is the 267th ship loaded at the terminal from the year beginning and the 11th in December. In 2015, the same result was achieved on December 22.

Rosterminalugol JSC (port Ust-Luga, Leningrad Region) is the largest dedicated coal terminal in the North-West region of Russia. The terminal built with the application of the innovative technologies is intended to supply Russian coal produced in Kuzbass and other coal fields to the customers in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Latin America. The terminal was founded in 1996 under the programme on establishment of a commercial seaport in Ust-Luga. In 2016, Rosterminalugol entered the holding run by Port Management Company LLC. 

In 2015, throughput of Rosterminalugol grew by 13%, year-on-year, to a record high result of 17.5 mln t (62% of coal transshipment in the ports of Russia’s Baltic Basin). In 2016, Managing Port Company LLC launched the project on further modernization of the terminal.

The Company specializes in loading / unloading operations, freight forwarding services, as well as operation of the coal terminal facilities. The coal terminal has two berths with total length of 565.4 meters. The depth at Berths No 1 and No 2 is 14 and 16 accordingly allowing them to accommodate vessels of up to 240 m in length and 32.2 m in breadth.

In 2015, coal exports via the terminal rose 13%, year-on-year, to 17.465 mln t.
