USC and MSAWT sign agreement on cooperation
On 25 January 2017, United Shipbuilding Corporation and Moscow State Academy of Water Transport entered into an agreement on cooperation. The document was signed by USC President Aleksei Rakhmanov and MSAWT Rector Aleksandr Galai.
The purpose of the agreement is to develop educational, scientific and technical interaction of the parties. The agreement is supposed to expand the activities on creating a state-of-the-art system for training and professional development of qualified personnel for shipbuilding and ship repair companies.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
Moscow State Academy of Water Transport trains shipboard personnel for marine and river transport, management for Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency) and leading organizations of the industry, as well as specialists for shore authorities of the Moscow-Oka Basin. The Academy’s scientific resources let it carry out the research in the sphere of IT, logistics, economics and law in transport, shipbuilding, port development and water transport operation.
