Multipurpose Reloading Complex (MRC, part of UCL Holding) in the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region) says it invested RUB 1.9 million in environmental protection programme in 2016.
To eliminate any negative impact on the aquatic resources the company monitors quality of natural water, controls proper management of the coastal zone and treats the waste waters on a regular basis. Also, in 2016 MRC completed the works on modernization and technical maintenance of waste treatment facilities.
The company also monitors atmospheric air quality at the boundary of sanitary protection area to protect it from any contamination. The results of the tests confirmed that air quality corresponds to the existing standards.
To ensure safe treatment of wastes from production and consumption MRC registers them all the year round and removes from the territory on a regular basis and monitors safe storage of wastes at temporary accumulation points.

The main cargo is export power coal. In 2016 MRC LLC handled 4.5 million tons of cargoes.
