Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency) says Sergei Safonichev was appointed as head of Azov Sea Ports Administration from 11 April 2017.
Sergei Safonichev was born on 2 December 1968 in Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Region.
In 1996, he graduated from Novorossiysk State Maritime Academy with specialization in Navigation and qualification of a Navigation Engineer. In 1987-1989 – military service in Rostov-on-Don.
In 1996-2004 – Master’s mate, Master of foreign shipping vessels.
In 2004-2005 – Assistant Professor at the Correspondence Faculty of the Rostov-on-Don Branch of Novorossiysk State Maritime Academy.
In 2005-2006 – Captain-Instructor, Palmali LLC. In 2006-2010 – head of Navigation Security Service, Captain-Instructor at Commercial Sea Port of Makhachkala. In 2010-2011 - Captain-Instructor, head of Navigation Security Service, Director General at Safinat OJSC. In 2012 – Deputy Director General for Navigation Security and Prevention of Environmental Pollution at Invest LLC.
From 2012 till April 2017 – First Deputy Harbour Master of Taganrog seaport, Harbour Master of Taganrog seaport, First Deputy to the head and Rostov-on-Don seaport, Deputy Harbour Master of Rostov-on-Don seaport, Acting Head of Azov Sea Ports Administration.
