Vostochny Port participated in 15th specialized international conference “Coaltrans China”

A delegation from JSC “Vostochny Port” participated in the 15th specialized international conference “Coaltrans China” that was held in Shanghai on April 11th-12th, says press center of Vostochny Port.

In its booth, the Port positioned itself as a stevedoring industry expert that is capable of influencing significantly both the quality of energy resource and its competitiveness on international market.

Representatives of the Russian stevedore noted that it is the Chinese market that has the biggest potential for active consumption of Russian coal products. This is supported by research undertaken by experts of Noble Group, who have forecast a boom in demand for coal in 2017. The group envisages an increase in coal shipments of 30 million tons over the preceding year. Fu Bo, Deputy Director General of “Datang Fuels Cо.” in Beijing alluded to the importance of coal imports in the generation of electricity and the production of cement in the South of China.

Special attention of the conference participants was drawn to the Beijing’s new environmentally friendly policy and the need to minimize any adverse impact on the environment during the processing of energy resources.

“Our coal terminal uses state-of-the-art automatic sampling equipment from European manufacturers and the laboratories of international surveyors, SGS and Incolab, perform an independent analysis of the shiploads during the loading process to validate the conformity of the product quality and issue a compliance certificate”, - stated the representatives of the Russian stevedore JSC “Vostochny Port”.

Today, environmental awareness is a very high priority in the development of economies. The Asia-Pacific Region markets, however, are not going to completely cease using coal. They are, instead, developing alternative solutions for more environmentally friendly use of coal products in the power industry.

In the meantime, Russia has implemented technologies for improving coal product quality by introducing new stevedoring services, such as coal sorting, blending, trimming to obtain contractual export fraction, and multi-level decontamination, to meet the customers’ specifications. Despite the difference in the initial costs when compared to low grade coal, less ash, less sulphur, less polluting emissions have definite advantages for the economy at large. The use of high quality coal will have a positive impact.
