Throughput of port Riga (Latvia) down 0.3% to 12.25 mln t in 4M’17
In January-April 2017, the Freeport of Riga (Latvia) handled 12.225 mln t of cargo (-0.3%, year-on-year). As IAA PortNews was informed by the port authority, coal transshipment climbed by 16.1% to 4,675,900 t, oil products – down 31.3% to 2,274,200 t, wood pellets – up 9.8% to 291,700 t, ore – up 8.3% to 108,200 t.
The Port’s container throughput grew by 15.2% to 142,724 TEUs. .
Passenger turnover increased by 35.7% to 197,965 people including 2,344 cruise passengers (+57.8%).
Freeport of Riga lies on both banks of the River Daugava covering 6.3 hectares. The port’s berth length is 13,800 meters, maximum draft at the berths is 12.2 meters. Up to 80% of the Freeport of Riga cargo turnover is made up of transit cargoes forwarded to or received from the CIS countries. In 2016, the port’s throughput totaled 37,070,300 t of cargo.
