Vympel Shipyard launches yet another fast patrol boat Mangust of Project 12150 (photo)
Vympel Shipyard (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region) says it launched the fast patrol boat Mangust of Project 12150 (Mongoose, Hull No 02648) on 11 May 2017. The ship is to be delivered to the customer before 30 June 2017 and will be deployed by Russian FSB Border Department for the Republic of Crimea.
The Mangust class fast patrol cutters (Project 12150) have been built at Vympel Shipyard since 2001. So far the shipyard has built 70 boats for the various customers: the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Federal Customs Service, Border Guard Service of FSB and others.
The boat is intended to be on duty for frontier safety, to support on-call actions conducted within territorial waters, to monitor the vessels’ compliance with regulations governing the shipping conditions within the outer and inner harbours and ports, to perform missions falling within the scope of duties of maritime law enforcement agencies, customs and fishery protection authorities. Maximum speed of Mangust type boats is 50 knots.
