IAA PortNews has performed an experiment on having package cargo in a container delivered and cleared at MSCC Bronka. The cargo intended for a natural person was shipped from the port of Casablanca (the Kingdom of Morocco) to the port of Saint-Petersburg with transshipment at the port of Rotterdam.
The lounge weighing about 200 kg (5.1 cbm) was loaded in a container onto a vessel of CMA CGM line in late May 2017. Customs clearance in Casablanca took 3 days.
In Saint-Petersburg, assistance in cargo tracking was provided by representative of CMA CGM LOGISTICS Rus Maria Vorobyova, who filled the documents and answered numerous online questions.
The cargo arrived at Bronka terminal of Saint-Petersburg port on June 22, 2017. Since customs point Bronka is located beyond the customs control area of the port, the consignee had no difficulty to visit it in advance, before the cargo arrival, to be instructed about what is to be done next.
Lieutenant Colonel Natalya Vasilyeva, Head of Bronka customs point, personally talked the consignee through the clearance procedure.
When the container arrived in Bronka, the logistics operation was supported by Transnmarine Ltd. in the person of its Director Aleksei Zherebtsov, who guided the consignee at the port and provided help for correct customs procedures and filling of the declaration form.
Natural person in maritime customhouse is a unique experience. Not all customs officers are aware of the details but Andrei Tarasov, Chief State Customs Inspector of Bronka customs point, has done an outstanding job and cleared the cargo quickly and correctly.
On 28 July 2017, Transnmarine delivered the lounge to the customer’s site.
It should be noted that port Bronka’s canteen for employees, customs officers and clients offers high service level and wide range of delicious dishes. Of course, that makes the wait shorter when procedures require the clients’ presence at the port for a long time.
IAA PortNews has obtained a unique experience and got acquainted with the details of container logistics. We have tested the operations of port Bronka, the activities of which are under our attention over a period of several years.
IAA PortNews is grateful to all those who participated in the experiment and finds Bronka a comfortable and userfriendly port operating smoothly and transparently.
