Port of Gdansk throughput up 4% to 21.89 mln t in Jan-July'17

In January-July 2017, Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 21,887,323 t of cargo (+4%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.

Transshipment of grain totaled 525,919 t, general cargo and timber – 9,644,303 t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – 1,973,194 t, coal – 2,644,754 t, liquid fuel – 7,099,153 t.

The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal, ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2016, the port handled 37,288,969 t of cargo.
