RF Navy’s landing ship Azov passed under the arch of the Crimea Bridge (photo)

The Azov, landing ship of RF Navy’s Black Sea Fleet, is crossing the Kerch Strait on the way to Azov where its crew will take part in the celebrations marking 950 years from the city foundation. According to Crimean Bridge information center, the ship of more than 100 m in length and 4,080 t in displacement has passed under the arch of the Kerch Strait Bridge installed in late August 2017. 

The warship crew and the team bridge builders greeted each other. For that purpose, 87 crewmembers lined on the deck while bridge construction workers climbed up the arch which is located 35 metres above the water surface.   

The operation of lifting the arch was supposed to be performed within a 72-hour window on August 27-29. With the works completed ahead of schedule, the Kerch-Yenikalsky canal was opened 6 hours earlier. From that moment more than 550 vessels passed under the arch from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea and back.
