Rosneft, Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex and Rosmorport Federal State Unitary Enterprise signed an agreement for cooperation in placing orders for building unique ice breakers with the draft of about 3 meters and 6.4 MW power and ice-class auxiliary vessels, Rosneft says in a press release.
Following to the agreement Rosmorport will place an order for construction of one shallow-draft ice breaker at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex with an option for three more.
The ice breakers will be used to escort vessels in Russian Federation ports and port approaches, including for the need of marine terminals operated by Rosneft.
Implementation of the Agreement will make it possible for the Shipyard to expand its product range and gain additional experience in building ice-breakers and ice-class vessels.
The parties confirmed mutual interest for development of cooperation in shipbuilding, vessels operation and introduction of innovative solutions for implementation of joint projects.
The long-term order from Rosmorport for the design and building of ice-breakers will enable lower building costs owing to the series of orders.
Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex is being created on the basis of the Zvezda Far Eastern Shipyard by the Consortium of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft and Gazprombank. The shipbuilding complex design provides for the construction of a heavy outfitting berth, a dry dock, full-cycle production shops, and shops for the construction of offshore marine facilities.
The Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex will produce heavy tonnage ships, elements of offshore platforms, ice-class vessels, special vessels and other marine equipment.
