Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) up 12.7% to 9.21 mln t in 8M’17

In January-August 2017, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 9.21 mln t of cargo (+12.7%, year-on-year), the port authority says.

Transshipment of unitized cargo grew by 11% to 7.82 mln t,  bulk cargo -  by 23.3% to 1.24 mln t, foreign cargo – by 12.6% to 9.06 mln t.

The port’s container traffic grew by 4.1% to 318,000 TEUs.

Transshipment of trucks and semitrailers grew by 13.5% to 385,550 units.

Passenger traffic climbed by 1.6% to 8.15 mln passengers.

The number of calls grew by 0.2% to 5,927 calls.

The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2016, the port handled 11.62 mln t of cargo (+1.9%, year-on-year).
