NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard says it prepares to inaugurate new facilities, namely: the assembly and fabrication workshop built as part of the large-scale reconstruction of the shipyard, which is being carried out with the support of the European Investment Bank.
At present, the specialists finish installing heating system, ventilation system and power supply system in the workshop. They also complete pouring self-leveling floor and producing metalware.
The cranes in the first and the third spans have already been installed; the cranes in the second span are to be installed. In particular, there will be installed four radio controlled overhead cranes with the capacity of 10 tons each and modern welding equipment in the assembly and fabrication workshop. The capacity of the new workshop will enable the company to produce about 4,000 tons of metalware per year.
Meanwhile, the construction of a rail track from the workshop to the berth is being continued. The specialists have already begun improvement of the territory around the workshop: they are pouring concrete and laying concrete slabs.
It is planned to put the assembly and fabrication workshop into operation at the beginning of October. Thus, soon the weather conditions will not affect the work of NIBULON’s shipbuilders. Sections of new vessels will not be assembled in the open air but in the new comfortable workshop.
In May 2017, NIBULON completed the first stage of modernization of NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard. It put the automated line for metal cleaning and priming and the metal processing workshop with plasma cutting and gas cutting machines into operation as part of this stage. Thus, NIBULON is a leader of the region in terms of equipment installed in its shipbuilding facilities.
