Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard launches third chemical carrier of Project RST27М built for BF Tanker

On 23 October 2017, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard launched the chemical carrier of Project RST27М, Balt Flot 18, says press center of BF Tanker LLC.

The ceremony was attended by Acting Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin, Nizhny Novgorod Mayor Elizaveta Solonchenko, USC President Aleksey Rakhmanov and other top-ranked guests, heads and employees of all companies involved in designing and construction, representatives of the customer and citizens of Krasnoye Sormovo.

Alexandra Azova, member of the Charity Fund Board, benefactor of the project on construction of a new Orthodox Church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Paldiski, Estonia, served as godmother of the newbuilding.

It is the second ship in a series of five chemical carriers of Project RST27M to be built by Krasnoye Sormovo in 2017-2018 for BF Tanker with State Transport Leasing Company as the customer. The three-party contract was signed in late 2016.

According to the statement, on more tanker of the series is to be delivered in 2017 with two RST27M ships to be delivered in the first half of 2018.

According to Sergei Chaplygin, Chairman of BF Tanker BoD, the company is successfully expanding the range of cargo and the geography of transportation thanks to high-quality ships delivered as scheduled. However, ship owners are concerned about non-extension of the state programme on partial covering of the interest rates under shipbuilding loans. In their opinion, that may threaten further construction of ships at Russian shipyards amid their low profitability and long payback period. Absence of state support can have a negative impact on the development of shipbuilding and shipping companies.

Krasnoye Sormovo PJSC is one of the oldest shipbuilding companies in Russia, founded in 1849. Throughout the 75-year period, more than three hundred submarines and rescue vehicles including 25 nuclear ones have been built and modernized by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard. Today, Krasnoye Sormovo builds vessels of commercial fleet meeting the requirements of international conventions on reliability and safety. Some of Krasnoye Sormovo tankers are in the list of Significant Ships of the Year by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).

United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 40 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates the bulk of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.

MNP Group (Marine Oil & Gas Projects) is the Company Manager of shipbuilding projects. With its extensive experience in civil shipbuilding MNP Group ensures efficient response to market changes, comprehensive use of its resources and accurate compliance with deadlines under shipbuilding contracts.
