Vitaly Klyuev, Director of the Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport of the Russian Ministry of Transport, was anonymously elected a Chairman of the seventh IMO Workshop for PSC MoU/Agreement Secretaries and Database Managers which opened at the IMO headquarters in London on 24 October 2017, says press center of RF Transport Ministry.
In his keynote speech, IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim congratulated the Chairman on the well-deserved appointment, emphasized the significance of the event and wished the workshop participants successful and fruitful work.
The workshop programme covers a three-day period. Such workshops have been held by IMO starting from 2000. The key task of the workshop is to exchange information on common MoU issues and looking for solutions; harmonization, coordination and improvement of Port State Control procedures and practices; defining of technical cooperation programmes’ priorities.
Apart from representatives of all regional Agreements and MoUs, the event is attended by representatives of interested IMO Member States, IGOs and NGOs.
