On 16 November 2017, Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad Region) performed a unique operation on rolling out (unloading) of 10 adsorption columns for Gazprom. The stevedore says that operation was performed at its multi-purpose transshipment complex Yug-2 with the use of a concrete slipway at Berth No 25. The equipment is intended for Gazprom compressor station under construction in the North-West region.
The adsorption columns were loaded at the port of Taman and were delivered to the port of Ust-Luga along inland water ways by a special Ro-Ro barge DAMEN Riverstar 3. Each unit weighs 219 t.
“That was the first time we used the slipway for rolling out heavy weight from a barge. We usually use it for unloading of ferries. Despite unfavorable weather conditions the operation was a success”, said Yevgeny Savkin, Acting Director General of Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga.
OCEANIC Maritime Agency acted as a Shipping Agent.
