Newest icebreaker Ilya Muromets to be commissioned by Russia’s Navy on November 30
A commissioning ceremony for the icebreaker Ilya Muromets (Project 21180) will take place at the Admiralteysky Shipyard in St. Petersburg on November 30, says press center of RF Defence Ministry. The event will be attended by representatives of the Navy’s Main Directorate and United Shipbuilding Corporation.
The icebreaker Ilya Muromets has passed all the stages of tests including factory, performance and state. It is planned that in the first decade of December, the icebreaker will join the Northern Fleet to the home station.
The icebreaker Ilya Muromets (Project 21180) is the vessel of this type built for the first time in last 40 years.
