Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard delivers third chemical tanker ‘Balt Flot 18’
Nizhny Novgorod, Russia based shipyard Krasnoye Sormovo (part of United Shipbuilding Corp.) today November 28, 2017 signed with BF Tanker delivery / acceptance certificate for Balt Flot 18, third chemical tanker Project RTS27M, the shipbuilding company said.
With the 3rd tanker delivery Krasnoye Sormovo completed its shipbuilding program for this year. Overall, the shipbuilding enterprise was contracted to build five RST27-M series chemical tankers for BF Tanker.
Under the contract schedule fourth tanker will be launched in December this year with further delivery next year.
The Balt Flot 18 was launched on October 23, 2017. The RST27M is 26th in the tanker portfolio and a modification Project RST27 with increased capacity by more than 800 tonne. This series tanker equipped with six cargo tanks are able to transport simultaneously three types of products: crude oil, oil products and noxious liquid bulk substances.
The tanker design takes into account special requirements of Russian and international oil companies as well as additional environmental restrictions of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping «ECO PROJECT» (ECO-S).
Tripartite agreement between Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, the State Transport Leasing Company and BF Tanker for the construction of five chemical tankers (Project RST27M) was signed in December 2016.
The vessels are designed for mixed (river-sea) navigation. Main particulars of Project RST27M: LOA: 140.8 m, breadth: 16.9 m, DWT in fresh water (draft 3.6 m): 5,337 tonnes, DWT in salt water (draft 4.6 m): 7,875 tonnes. The vessel was designed by Marine Engineering Bureau to RS class: КМ Ice1 1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker/Chemical tanker type 2 (ESP). Detailed design was provided by Nizhny Novgorod based engineering firm Volga-Caspian Design Bureau.
Krasnoye Sormovo PJSC is one of the oldest shipbuilding companies in Russia, founded in 1849. Throughout the 75-year period, more than three hundred submarines and rescue vehicles including 25 nuclear ones have been built and modernized by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard. Today, Krasnoye Sormovo builds vessels of commercial fleet meeting the requirements of international conventions on reliability and safety. Some of Krasnoye Sormovo tankers are in the list of Significant Ships of the Year by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 40 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus).
