Throughput of port Azov up 11.4% to 10.24 mln t in 11M’17
In January-November 2017, seaport of Azov handled 10.24 mln t of cargo (+11.4%, year-on-year), the port Harbour Master Vladimir Bragin told IAA PortNews.
In the reporting period, transshipment of grain grew by 18.3% to 6.095 t, transshipment of coal surged 2.7 times to 858,000 t while transshipment of oil products fell by 13% to 2.651 mln t.
Internal turnover of Azov seaport increased by 25.4% to 7.669 mln t, imports – by 38.9% to 320,000 t, coastal trade cargo – by 80.2% to 3.951 mln t. Exports dropped by 8% to 3.397 mln t, transit – by 16.4% to 2.571 mln t.
The Azov Port Harbour Master Service registered 3,629 arrivals and 3,640 departures vs 3,653 arrivals and 3,632 departures in January-November 2016.
Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea with the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port's basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
