Assembly of Crimea Bridge motor vehicle section slated for completion in December 2017 (video)
The assembly of motor vehicle spans of the Kerch Strait Bridge construction site No 2, between the island of Tuzla and fairway, has been finally completed. As of now there are a few spans of the section left to be erected on the final bridge stretch, from the fairway to the Kerch coast. Final assembly works are scheduled for completion in late December 2017, the Crimean Bridge press office reported.
Within the next 24 hours, the second span connection will be completed. The bridge’s first arch spans will subsequently be used for motor vehicles traffic from the Crimea to Taman, vise versa.
The 2-km-long, 20-tonne "thread" of metal structures was stretched in this section between 33 pillars.
The bridge spans installation works are being carried out since February 2017 utilizing incremental launching techniques. Overall, there are four stretches on the bridge construction site, including a section erected above the fairway. The stretches length exceeds 6 km of the 19-km-long bridge. The construction of spans on three of four sea sections has been completed, as well as the bridge’s overland sections.
