Rosmorrechflot suggests building 20 dredgers for Russia’s IWW by 2030

The Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) suggests building 20 dredging vessels for inland water ways of Russia by 2030. When speaking at the meeting of Rosmorrechflot’s Expert Board, Igor Zlobin, head of Rosmorrechflot’s IWW Department, said that 2 vessels should be built annually, IAA PortNews reported from the meeting. According to Igor Zlobin, 6 dredgers should be built for Northern Dvina and Ob-Irtysh Basins, 3 vessels – for Lena Basin, 2 vessels – for Pechora Basin with Kama, Moscow and Ob Basins to get one dredger each.

Igor Zlobin also said the fleet of dredging vessels currently numbers 126 units able for operation. Their total capacity is 88,700 cbm.  More than a half of those vessels are older than 59.
