In 2017, cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin down fell by 4.9% to 9.796 mln t, Azov-Don Basin Administration told IAA PortNews.
Transit cargo transportation fell by 4.3% to 8.063 mln t, domestic cargo turnover – by 7.4% to 1.733 mln t.
Turnover of vessels totaled 5,694 including 2,840 vessels moving downward and 2,854 vessels moving upward (vs 6,010 units in 2016: 2,993 downward and 3,017 upward).
Navigation season in the Azov-Don Basin closed on 31 December 2017. In 2016 – on December 1.
In December 2017, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin totaled 113,000 t: transit cargo – 52,000 t, domestic cargo – 61,000 t. Wheat made 46.9% of total turnover (53,000 t), vacuum gasoil – 14.2% (16,000 t), flax – 7.1% (8,000 t).
In December 2017, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 81 vessel movements including 46 downward and 35 upward.
The Federal Azov-Don Basin Administration is responsible for management and control of inland waterways of the Don River Don from the lower access channel of Lock No 15 (Tsimlyansk Reservoir) to the village of Aksai (the 3121-km stretch of the Don), except for Nikolayevsky and the Konstantinovsky hydroengineering facilities, and the tributaries of the Don River, Seversky Donets (from Krasny farm to the mouth) and the Manych River (from the Novo-Manychskaya Dam to the mouth). The total length of the Azov-Don Basin Administration managed inland waterways reaches 691.3 km.
