NRSC ships deliver cargo for construction of Arctic LNG 2 (photo)
Northern River Shipping Company says its crane ships of ice class 1АSuper - Arc-5, Arktika-1 and Arktika-2, have transported cargo along the Northern Sea Route and unloaded it onto the landfast ice on the Gydan peninsula under the agreement with Yamal LNG on cooperation in delivery of material and equipment to the Salmanovskoye field for construction of Arctic LNG 2, a plant for liquefaction of natural gas.
The Salmanovskoye (Utrenneye) oil and gas condensate field on the Gydan peninsula is located far from settlements and infrastructure facilities. Northern River Shipping Company will ensure round-the-year delivery of equipment and materials needed for construction of the LNG plant, roads and workers’ settlements.
NRSC has a long experience of transporting cargo in winter period and unloading it onto landfast ice.
Arctic LNG 2 will consist of three technological lines. The first one is to be put into operation in 2022-2023 with the launching of the other two scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
Northern River Shipping Company is one of the largest transport companies in the European part of Russia’s northern territories operating sea/river ships. The company’s fleet numbers eight vessels of mixed sea/river shipping and more than 160 vessels of inland shipping, of which 9 river tugboats, 18 river barges (13 dry cargo barge, 3 tankers and 2 combined oil/bulk carriers) and one self-propelled river ship have a sea class of RRR.
